What Sets our Handloom Collection Apart

Our handloom collection, Akriti, has quickly become one of our most popular collections. Each Akriti piece is entirely woven by hand using naturally dyed wool, and no two pieces are exactly alike. This is part of what makes the collection so special. In this post, we wanted to talk a bit more about the origins of the designs and what sets our pieces apart.
The pattern of stripes and checks, mixed with small geometric motifs originates in India. What really makes our handloom pillows and throws unique is the colors. When initially developing the collection, Deepali and Nanu traveled to remote parts of India to work with artisans to develop our signature Akriti color palette of refined neutrals. The beauty of the tones that can be achieved with natural dyeing can't be replicated. It takes at least 2-3 days to dye the yarn before weaving and each dye lot is a little different. If you missed our post a while back on the step by step process of creating a handloom piece, check it out here.
