The Story Behind Our Latest Fabric Collection
Our new fabric collection is here! Our latest block print collection was inspired by the traditional floral patterns that Nanu and I grew up seeing in India. These patterns were everywhere, on pillowcases and bedspreads, and even on Indian dresses and cotton sarees. We were used to seeing them on my mom, the house help, and our neighbor aunty Ji (we call all older women in India auntyji.)
I wanted to re-interpret those traditional floral designs in my unique way through a Filling Spaces collection. I felt it would be the perfect setting for this. These patterns feel subdued yet bold and a perfect juxtaposition of textures and stripes.
Our Nisa print got its name from our India studio manager, Nisa. She is kind and communicates so well with everyone at the India studio. This collection came to life from inspiring surroundings, memories, and moments throughout our time in India.
All the fabrics are hand block printed on earthy, natural linen and crisp, white linen. We chose a warm mustard palette, saffron, and pink tones mixed with deep teals, rich greens, and classic blacks.
